Working AS a group as well as IN a group.

Introductory Session

Approach: Interactive Playing, out of role, to socialise the group
Guiding principle: Using whole group extravert (working unselfconsciously in a group, individual focus- diverging out to the group) and whole group introvert (working as a group, social focus, converging on a concern).




Working in a group
· Pairs introduction. Introduce yourself to the person beside you. One minute each. Tell back to that person what you have heard. Then find another couple and introduce your partner to them.
· Circle.
· Good morning. Then with hands connecting and saying your name.
· Eye colour. How many people in this room here have blue eyes? Count them.(Include the teacher) .
Using PVC


[1] Titanic. 1.Move around the room in a circle as a group. When I clap you go quickly into groups of whatever number I call out. 2. Add Titanic tension. Bring to pair.
[2] Pair work counting 100 to 1 -distraction without touch.
[3] Circle of counting-Concentration. step in and count.If two step in then go back to beginning.for beginners try up to 5 first and extend as needed.

· Prerequisites of Drama . Explain Safety as psychological in nature as opposed to physical.
· Contrast origin and meanings of
[a] Theatre [Théaomai =behold the face of God] and Théatron [ where one watches a theatrical performance] and
[b] Drama in Education : [ Draó = to do and Educo to lead out (of ignorance) = Lead out by doing.
